My name is Rachel - welcome to my tuition website!
Music has always been a huge part of my life. Whether I’m listening, learning, or creating, I love every aspect of it. As I’ve grown in my own skills and knowledge, I’ve discovered a real passion for teaching. I love helping students develop their abilities, build confidence, and achieve their goals — it’s incredibly rewarding to be part of that journey.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Contemporary Music and have a year of postgraduate experience teaching both in schools and privately. I’m always excited to work with passionate students who are keen to learn, grow, and develop their musicianship in a supportive and encouraging environment.

What are the lessons like?

Well, every student is different.
When I began teaching, I tried to create a “one size fits all programme” and quickly discovered that the way I keep students engaged was to ensure we are consistently pursuing their own goals. The times I felt I was losing them, was usually in the situations where they didn’t know why whatever they were learning was relevant to those goals. By explaining how everything links together and how it will help to achieve their goal, they quickly became motivated to practice again!

That’s it I thought! Passion and tangible goals - that’s what drives people to practice, even when it’s hard.

So, instead of following a rigid programme, we discuss what the students goals are. For example:

• To be able to play in a band

• To simply gain more confidence

• To be able to play by ear
  
  Whatever it is, there’s a pathway!
  
  Once we have a few tangible goals, I design a personalised programme to equip you with the necessary information to achieve that. This way I can teach you what you actually want to learn!
  
  There will always be elements that you enjoy more/less than others. But, if you know how each thing is relevant to achieving your goals, you’ll have the motivation you need to continue because you know every part is a step to get you where YOU want to go.
  Plus, those moments can be a great opportunity to develop some perseverance and self discipline!
